Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Currently, expanded school mental health (SBMH) services are provided with funding from DHHR at 74 school sites at an approximate cost of $30,000 per site. Also, federal AWARE grant monies are being used to provide expanded mental health services at 18 additional school sites across six counties at approximately $145,000 per site which provide additional services. The total number of school-based mental health programs statewide encompasses 92 school sites across thirty counties.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
It appears that the provisions of this bill are consist with the current SBMH program requirements. If the Legislature determines additional SBMH services are desirable, the costs of extending the services to additional sites is estimated at approximately $30,000 per location.
