Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

This legislation, in its current form, does not have any fiscal impact on the WVDE. However, requiring cameras to be installed in all classrooms and other areas where students may be present, would be borne by the various county boards of education. In the most recent school safety survey, county boards of education reported that 17,821 cameras are needed statewide to provide video coverage in classrooms, corridors, gyms, dining areas, auditoriums, entries, outdoor areas, and other spaces where students may be present. The total estimated cost was reported to be $31,961,178.
