The WVDE currently has 641 full-time and part-time employees. As of October 1, 2024, there were 38,361 full-time professional and service personnel employed statewide by the county boards of education not including substitutes, volunteers, etc. The WVDE does not currently have the data necessary to calculate how many employees may be hired by either the WVDE or county boards of education in a year and cannot formulate an accurate response to this fiscal note request. Please note, the current cost of a drug test being utilized by county boards of education ranges from $37.25 to $75.00.
