Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require coverage for newly born children up to the age of 19 for medically necessary congenital anomalies of cleft lip and palate. PEIA will see an increase in costs as it doesn’t currently cover orthodontic or dental services. These benefits are currently available under dental insurance.
Assuming 95% of cleft lip and palate cases require orthodontic treatment, PEIA estimates an increased cost of $245,000.
