It will be nearly impossible for inmates leaving the Regional Jail to have their Birth Certificate and SS card upon discharge. We currently have an MOU with the Social Security Administration however they are very particular and will not issue a SS Card if they do not have other forms of Certified Identification.
Many times it takes Vital Statistics months to send us a Birth Certificate request. Especially out of state requests. Inmates that leave on probation at times leave the same day the circuit judge pronounces sentence. We do try to start the process to get these documents (6) months prior to release from our prisons and there are times we do not receive.
