Memorandum

At facilities that allow and have "certain" inmates classified to perform such work, we have had inmates complete this duty. Our policy allows this community service program. There may be overtime hours that are paid to the officers assigned this duty but it is not possible to predict and place a fiscal impact. Currently the Division provides upkeep on cemeteries in Moundsville, St. Marys and in Grafton and others at the cemetery request. We get many requests to help with the upkeep and we do assist with overgrown and areas that have been affected by weather, floods etc., but have found that there are too many cemeteries throughout West Virginia to maintain them weekly by our community service inmate crews.
