Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill, as amended by the House Committee on the Judiciary, adds a $15 fee for each named defendant in a civil action. The first $10 is required to be deposited in the General County Fund in the county in which the action was filed and the remaining $5 is required to be deposited in the State Police Forensic Laboratory Fund.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Memorandum
This bill increases the amount of court costs required upon filing a civil action collected by circuit clerks. Since the circuit clerks are already collecting such court costs, simply increases the amount of court costs collected, should not have any fiscal impact on the judiciary.
