This measure will cost the state $100,000 annually to implement. It will also reduce the revenues of the West Virginia Division of Forestry (WVDOF) by $900,000 and cause a reduction in force of 25 full time employees.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
With the loss of $900,000 this would eliminate the funding of 25 Professional Forester positions and significantly impact or eliminate the WVDOF mandatory programs of forest fire suppression and prevention along with the enforcement of the Logging Sediment Control act.
Memorandum
This bill would not effect State Parks as timber harvests are not currently allowed on State Parks. The State Forests were designed by our forefathers as demonstration areas for research and state of the art forest management techniques and silviculture activity with the income to assist with the mandatory programs of the WVDOF by code.
