Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
In December, 2014, according to the federal VA there were 4,437 West Virginia veterans with 100% service-connected disabilities. We do not know how many of their dependents are enrolled in higher education institutions.
The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance can verify veterans’ status as 100% service-connected (according to the federal VA’s definition) without any additional funding.
** National Guard members and Reservists are only included in the federal definition of 100% service connected if their injuries were incurred during a period of activation for federal military service.
