Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to hold every public middle and high school administrator responsible for disseminating suicide prevention information and providing opportunities to discuss suicide prevention awareness information to all middle and high school students on or before September 1, 2015, and September 1, of each year thereafter.
The suicide prevention information may be obtained from DHHR or can be commercially developed resources that is reviewed for accuracy and approved by WVDE and disseminated via the DHHR website.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Should this bill pass, administrator training opportunities already exist to train principals to implement requirements and the WV Student Success Standards and Health Education Standards already require schools to educate students about personal safety. This would include suicide prevention awareness. While implementing bill requirements will take planning and coordination with DHHR, it should not have any new direct costs to schools.
