Fiscal Note Summary


Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


House Bill 2235 proposes to increase the salaries for magistrate court clerks, magistrate assistants and deputy magistrate court clerks. Raise #1 in the amount of $5,004 would apply to the total of the three (3) groups (275 people). The effective date of this increase is assumed to be July 1, 2005. Raise #2 in the amount of $3,000 would apply only to magistrate assistants and deputy magistrate clerks (220 people). The effective date of this increase would be January 1, 2006. Raise #3 in the amount of $3,000 would apply only to magistrate court clerks (55 people). The effective date of this increase would be July 1, 2006. For FY 2006 Raises #1 and #2 would apply. This the total for FY 2006 would be $2,038,961. The going forward annual cost would be $2,433,344, a higher amount since Raise #2 would only be in effect for six (6) months. For FY 2007 Raise #3 would apply. The total annual cost of Raise #3 would be $197,192. The total going forward annual cost of Raises # 1,2, and 3 would be $2,630,536. All amounts include employer benefits. See attachment for cost of each Raise #1,2, and 3.
