The purpose of this bill is to provide for emergency contact information on driver’s license records with the Division of Motor Vehicles. A driver’s license will have a notation that such information is on record.
There is only one space available for an additional notation identifying emergency contacts on the reverse of the driver’s license. Data storage is available through our current mainframe configuration, along with annual maintenance, creating no additional expenses in those areas.
Personnel costs are based on 20% of our applicants taking advantage of the emergency contact option. This equates to 86,000 transactions per year, allowing 10 minutes per transaction. Customer Service Representative (CSR) costs are calculated at $2.50 per transaction.
Estimated costs for the first year of implementation are $252,061. The estimated costs thereafter will be $215,000 which equates to seven (7) additional full time equivalent (FTE) positions to handle this additional duty.
