Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Senate Bills 605 and 62 if enacted would create and fund the establishment of a facility that studies and creates solutions to maintain, improve, and protect water quality and quantity in West Virginia. The bill also provides one-time funding from the Legislature for the facility which is to be known as the "West Virginia Water Sustainability Institute" and located at the West Virginia Regional Technology Park. Funding would be provided from the Legislature’s Traffic Fund 0175. It is estimated that the startup costs associated with the West Virginia Water Sustainability Institute will be approximately $2 million.
