Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill would permit a wine license at any NCAA Division I college sports stadium as specified in the bill. I believe the only NCAA Division I colleges in West Virginia are West Virginia University and Marshall.
This bill tracks language used to create the wine license for professional baseball stadiums which passed in 2012.
Potentially the colleges could apply for 4 to 5 licenses per various sports stadiums on their campus.
Using an example of 4 licenses per college or 8 licenses total, multiplied by $250 = $2000. This would be additional revenue. The costs to license the sports stadiums would be absorbed in the normal expenditures for licensing.
