The purpose of this legislation is to require a jobs impact statement be completed by the Development Office on any proposed legislation that may have an impact on the state's economy. An impact statement may be requested by the Governor or the presiding officer of either house of the Legislature.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):


The above estimate is based on adding two additional staff to coordinate and prepare these impact statements. The amount under current expense is to cover the costs of research materials neccessary to support our staff as well as to hire outside attorneys and and other rconsultants necessary to properly complete these statements. Or in the case of this bill pay WVU and Marshall.

It is difficult to provide an estimated cost of this legislation because we do not know how many bills will require an impact statement each year.
