Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to make English the official languate of West Virginia. Specifically, the provisions of the bill state that no state agency or political subdivision is required to provide documents, information, literature or written materials in any language other than Enclish. The Department of Administration has no knowledge of what agencies or political subdivisions currently provide such material in any language other than English. However, the passage of the bill should not have a fiscal impact to the State. Passage of the bill could arguably be a cost savings to the State if any agencies or political subdivisions are currently being required to provide such material in any language other than English.
