Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Senate Bill 508, if enacted, would permit Pierpont Community and Technical College to assess additional tuition for credit hours beyond twelve in a regular term for the purpose of implementing a per-credit hour tuition demonstration pilot project. It is estimated that the increased revenue above twelve hours would be $1,107,820 per year. No additional costs would result from the enactment of the legislation.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
During the 2011-12 academic year, 1,047 students took more than 24 hours at Pierpont Community and Technical College. It is estimated that on average, these students enrolled for 3.29 hours above 12 hours for each of the two semesters. The current cost per credit hour is $161.
