Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

     The stated purpose of this bill is to maintain conformity with the international fuel tax agreement.
    
     As written, this bill specifies that, on or after July 1, 2013, the provisions of Section R1230 of the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), as amended, would apply to motor fuel taxes collected in West Virginia under the International Fuel Tax Agreement. Section R1230 of the International Fuel Tax Agreement provides for continued conformity to a standard interest rate policy for all members, including the 48 contiguous United States and 10 Canadian provinces.
    
     According to our interpretation and based upon available data, passage of this bill will result in no substantial change in State Road Fund collections.
    
     There would be no additional administrative costs to the State Tax Department associated with this bill.
