Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
House Bill 2191 if enacted, would create a Board of Veteran Education and Support. The board is comprised of a single representative from the various offices of veteran affairs from each of the public higher education institutions, and staff members of any bona fide Reserve Officer Training Corps representing their respective institutions. If the legislation is enacted, the board would meet twice a year.
The fiscal impact would be about $24,120 for costs related to committee activities. It is estimated that mileage, meals and lodging would cost $7,520, $12,800 and $ 2,800 respectively.
In addition, about $1,000 would be required for clerical support.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
It is estimated that board would consist of 40 individuals. Twenty of the members would be the representatives from the various offices of veteran affairs from the public colleges and universities. It is estimated that as many as twenty Reserve Officer Training Corps staff members could join the board. Two semiannual meetings would require 80 trips at an estimated round trip distance of 200 miles. The current mileage rate is 47 cents per mile. The total mileage costs would be $7,520. Lodging for 80 nights at $160 is estimated to be $12,800. The estimate for meals is $2,800 at $35.
