3. Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
    The purpose of this bill is to provide a $5000 salary supplement to fully certified math and science teachers who teach in those subject areas in grades 7-12 and to fully certified reading specialists.
    
    The estimated cost to the State through the Public School Support Program for this proposal for the 2011-12 year is $21,208,280.
