Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to increase the compulsory school attendance age to 17 years of age, to implement the High School Graduation Improvement Act, and to increase the allowance for alternative education programs to $18 per net enrollment student to be fully funded for the 2010-11 year and decrease the percent of the allocation to be retained by the WVDE each year to 2%.

The estimated cost of this proposal to the State through the Public School Support Program for FY 2011 and each year thereafter, based on the current year’s net enrollment, is $1,681,720 per year.
