Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to authorize the Division of Motor Vehicles to issue special license plates for members of certain organizations.
The bill establishes a one-time fee of $25.00 to cover the design and manufacturing costs, as well as an annual fee of $15.00 for each plate.
The Division has been paying $8.30 for special plates, plus $5.00 for administration cost. The total cost to issue a special plate is $13.30 per plate, or $3,325 annually based on an order of 250 plates.
Revenues generated from special plates will be $10,000 the first year, and $3,750 in subsequent years; again based on an order of 250 plates.
The above estimates are based upon one qualifying organization.
