Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
If is the intent to waive fees for any courses attended by State Police Officers at institutions of higher education, the average per credit hour at four year institutions is $383, at two year institutions are $212 and at graduate schools are $425. Currently there are 627 officers in the field and estimated that only 10 are attending courses of higher education. It is estimated that less than 20 additional State Policeman would take advantage of the tution waiver and attend college. This is due to the time constraints and demands of the job.
It is the opinion that any fiscal impact would be insignificant.
