Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to authorize the county sheriff to access a $25 fee for conducting drug screens for the Department of Health and Human Resources.
The bill would require the Department of Health and Human Resources to reimburse the county sheriff $25.00 for the observation and collection of the specimen and would not include the actual laboratory testing costs. The $25.00 fee would only be for persons referred by the Department or ordered by a Circuit Judge pertaining to a Child Abuse and Neglect Proceeding.
The Department currently reimburses vendors for collection and testing of specimen. This legislation simply allows for the county sherrif to retain the fee they charge the Department rather than the fee being retained by the county. This legislation would have no fiscal impact on the Department.
