Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


This proposed legislation affects 667 troopers. The total cost of this change to the trooper salary schedule for FY 09 is $3,098,154. This is based upon salary increases of $4,000 to all ranks except cadet during training, cadet after training and lieutenant colonel. These ranks are scheduled for increases of $4,500 and $2,000 respectively. For fiscal years FY 10, FY 11 and FY 12, the total cost per year is $1,536,207. Therefore, implementation of this salary schedule change will cost $7,706,775. Total cost to the general revenue fund is $7,614,160. The remaining cost will be covered by special revenue.

Errors in Bill: Page 8 - Effective date should be July two thousand eleven, not two thousand nine. Page 8 - salary for Corporal should be $51,058, not $51,470 Page 3 - Questionable Rate - Should the new rate for Lieutenant Colonel not be $61,762 so that increase will consistent with other ranks after cadet? If approved in its current state, there will be practically no pay differntial between the ranks of Major and Lieutenant Colon
