Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The fiscal impact of this legislation granting tuition waivers for successful completion of all students of the Health Sciences and Technology Academy Program (HSTA) starting year 2008-2009 through 2011-2012 is $12,108,526. This is based on statistics of the current graduates currently in college.
If it is the intent to grant tuition waivers for students currently only majoring in health science and technology in college, the estimated cost is $7,022,945.

This estimate is based on current data of graduates from the Health Science and Technology Academy Program (HSTA) and current tuition and fees for resident students. It assumes a minimum 5% tuition increase for subsequent years after 2008-2009.
