Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The addition of widows to the already established fund for children of deceased veterans will have no effect on revenue for the State. Currently children of deceased veterans receive $2,000.00 per year in expenses and a tuition waiver to state supported schools. We currently know of only 5 widows and only 3 are living in the state and would therefore be eligible. This relatively small amount of additional funds can, for the FY 2008, be absorbed by the amount of funds already appropriated. Therefore, there would be no impact of additional cost to the State. Future FY impact on costs is unknown. However, due to the fact that this fund is to be reappropriated each year, it is not expected to cause future increased costs to exceed appropriated and reappropriated funds.
