Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
With the passage of the Child Protection Act last year, the Supreme Court of Appeals estimates that it will have to hire thirty additional probation officers over a five year period at a current cost of $2,658,288. Since this legislation only increases penalties for sex offenders who fail to register, we do not believe that the passage of this legislation will increase the number of probation officers expected to be hired in the future to fulfill the probationary requirements established in HB101.
