Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of this bill is to require the Public Employees Insurance Agency and Medicaid to cover testing for chronic kidney disease and to provide some outreach by the Bureau for Public Health to providers regarding chronic kidney disease.

The Public Employees Insurance Agency currently covers the procedures addressed by this bill therefore there would be no substantive additional fiscal impact.

It is the preference, however, that the Public Employees Insurance Agency provisions be deleted from the bill so as not to have unnecessary language in the Public Employees Insurance Agency Act and to avoid future inflexibility and confusion.
