Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This Bill, in part, provides for salary increases for Supreme Court Justices, Circuit Court Judges, and Family Court Judges in the amounts of $26,000., $26,000., and $12,500 respectively.
This fiscal note request is to reflect the above salary increases and in addition reflect the cost of granting magistrates a $10,000 increase and Family Court Judges an additional $5,000 increase, bringing Family Court Judges to a salary of $80,000.
The attached Attachment A reflects the cost of the original Bill for a total of $2,424,706 annually. The cost of the above referred to additions is shown in Attachment B, which total cost is $2,097,405. Thus, the original Bill plus the fiscal note request additions brings the grand total to: $4,522,111.
At the time of preparing this fiscal note an amendment had been adopted by the House setting Family Court Judges at $82,000. The additional $2,000 would cost: $83,658. Additions to the Family Court Judges may be calculated by multiplying the number of $1,000 increases by $41,829.
The above referred to increases and corresponding costs does not address the question of whether or not funds are available in the Supreme Court's 2006 Budget Request.
