Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to allow parking fees to be charged for accessible (handicap) parking spaces under certain circumstances. This bill requires that the Division of Motor Vehicles notify all owners of handicap placards and handicap plates of the changes to the law.
The Division of Motor Vehicles has registered 137,436 placards and 5,061 handicap registration plates. Of this number, the Division estimates that the placards and plates were issued to 100,000 individuals.
The estimated cost to develop a brochure and mail it to 100,000 individuals is $62,700.
