Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.


The purpose of this bill is to require school crossing signs be designated by the color lime green. The WVDOT already has plans to change these signs over a 3-5 year period and the cost of doing so would come from their normal operating budget. However, if they were required to expedite the replacement schedule, the estimated cost to the State associated with this proposal would be $756,000. That estimate is based on $100 per sign, 8 signs per school and 945 schools in the state.
