SIXTY-FOURTH DAY
[Mr. Speaker, Mr. Thompson, in the Chair]
The House of Delegates met at 4:00 p.m., and was called to order by the Honorable Richard
Thompson, Speaker.
Prayer was offered and the House was led in recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The roll being called (Roll No. 529), and 85 members having answered to their names, the
Speaker declared the presence of a quorum.
The Clerk proceeded to read the Journal of Tuesday, March 11, 2008, being the first order
of business, when the further reading thereof was dispensed with and the same approved.
Committee Reports
Chairman Doyle, from the Joint Committee on Enrolled Bills, submitted the following report,
which was received:
Your Joint Committee on Enrolled Bills has examined, found truly enrolled and, on the12th
day of March, 2008, presented to His Excellency, the Governor, for his action, the following bill,
signed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Delegates:
(Com. Sub. for H. B. 4420), Imposing corporate net income tax on certain regulated
investment companies and real estate investment trusts used as tax sheltering vehicles.
Leaves of Absence
At the request of Delegate DeLong, and by unanimous consent, leaves of absence for the day
were granted Delegates Duke, Ellem, Fleischauer, Frederick, Hamilton, Hartman, Manchin, Michael,
Miley, Pethtel, D. Poling, Schadler, Shook, Stalnaker and Varner.
At 4:08 p.m., the House of Delegates adjourned until 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008.
