WEST VIRGINIA LEGISLATURE
EXTENDED SESSION, 2007
SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 2007
The Senate met at 12:15 a.m. for an extended session to
complete action on the annual state budget (Eng. Com. Sub. for H.
B. No. 2007), today's proceedings being authorized by the
Governor's proclamation of Wednesday, March 7, 2007, extending the
regular sixty-day session until and including the seventeenth day
of March, two thousand seven, solely for that purpose, as being the
only permissive legislation within constitutional purview.
The Legislature now being in extended session for the sole
Eng. Com. Sub. for House Bill No. 2007, Budget Bill, making
appropriations of public money out of the treasury in accordance
with section fifty-one, article six of the Constitution.

Prayer was offered by the Honorable Shirley Love, a senator
from the eleventh district West Virginia.
Pending the reading of the Journal of Saturday, March 10,
On motion of Senator Kessler, the Journal was approved and the
further reading thereof dispensed with.
The Senate proceeded to the twelfth order of business.

The Senate then proceeded to the thirteenth order of business.
Senator Chafin called attention to today being the birthday of
Becky McClure, Assistant to the President, and on behalf of the
Senate extended felicitations and good wishes to Becky McClure,
with Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner, Division of Culture and
History, leading the members in singing "Happy Birthday".
Senator Chafin then moved that the Senate adjourn until
tomorrow, Monday, March 12, 2007, at 6 p.m.
The question being on the adoption of Senator Chafin's motion,
and on this question, Senator Chafin demanded the yeas and nays.
The roll being taken, the yeas were: Bailey, Boley, Bowman,
