A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-2-5a, relating
to authorizing county boards of education to make certain
payments.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-2-5a, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. SCHOOL PERSONNEL.
§18A-2-5a. Authorizing payment for notification of resignation
or retirement.
All county boards of education are hereby authorized to pay,
entirely from local funds, five hundred dollars or less to any
service employee, or to any professional employee who is not a
classroom teacher, who gives written notice to the county board
on or before the first day of February of the school year of their resignation or retirement from employment with the board at
the conclusion of the school year.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to allow county boards of
education to pay $500 to those school personnel who are not
teachers when they inform the board by February 1 that they
intend to resign or retire.
