SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 61

(By Senators Hall, Kessler (Mr. President), Barnes, Beach, Boley, Browning, Chafin, Edgell, D. Facemire, Green, Helmick, Jenkins, Kirkendoll, Klempa, Laird, McCabe, Miller, Minard, Nohe, Palumbo, Plymale, Prezioso, Snyder, Stollings, Sypolt, Tucker, Unger, Williams, Wells, Wills and Yost)

 

Recognizing the service of the Honorable Karen Facemyer, member of the West Virginia Senate, former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates and dedicated public servant.

    Whereas, Karen Facemyer was born June 17, 1954, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the daughter of Mary E. and the late John E. Froendt; and

    Whereas, Karen Facemyer received her education from Glenville State College (BS); Marshall University (MS); and

    Whereas, Karen Facemyer was first elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998, and then was elected to the Senate in 2000, 2004 and 2008; and

    Whereas, The Honorable Karen Facemyer is the Minority Whip of the 80th Legislature and currently serves on the Committees on Agriculture, Banking and Insurance, Economic Development, Energy, Industry and Mining, Judiciary, Natural Resources, Transportation and Infrastructure. Additionally, she serves on the Joint Committee on Government and Finance, Legislative Rule-Making Committee, Joint Commission on Economic Development, and Forest Management Review Commission; and

    Whereas, The Honorable Karen Facemyer is married to her beloved husband Leslie R. Facemyer, with whom she shares the joy of having two sons, Travis Lee and Justin Michael; and

    Whereas, The Honorable Karen Facemyer has decided not to seek reelection in 2012, bringing an end to a distinguished career in public service; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Senate:

    That the Senate hereby recognizes the service of the Honorable Karen Facemyer, member of the West Virginia Senate, former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates and dedicated public servant; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby expresses its sincere appreciation to the Honorable Karen Facemyer for her dedication and commitment to the citizens of the 4th senatorial district and the State of West Virginia; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Karen Facemyer.
