SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 105

(By Senators Snyder, Miller, Browning, Foster, Jenkins, Kirkendoll, Klempa, McCabe, Williams and Sypolt)

[Originating in the Committee on Government Organization]

 

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to study the efficiency and economics of local government.

    Whereas, The current local government system was established in the 19th century; and

    Whereas, In the 21st century, the current local government system may no longer be efficient or economically viable to serve the public needs; and

    Whereas, There may be more efficient local government systems to serve the citizens of West Virginia; therefore, be it

    Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to study the efficiency and economics of local government; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2013, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it

    Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study. To prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
