A BILL to amend article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty, relating to providing moving expenses for teachers laid off due to lack of need in a county who elect to move to another county in this state to teach.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article four, chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.

§18A-4-20. Moving expenses allowed for teachers laid off in counties due to lack of need.

Subject to available state appropriations, the state board, beginning on the first day of July, two thousand one, shall provide moving expenses in an amount not to exceed one thousand five hundred dollars for teachers who elect to relocate to other counties in this state in order to continue teaching after being dismissed from their employment in a county as the result of a reduction in force.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide financial assistance to teachers forced to move from a county, due to reduction in force, to another county in the state to teach.
