HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 25

Requesting the Division of Highways name Bridge Numbers: 02-009/00-017.48  (EB & WB) (02A142, 02A143), (39.42463, -77.93802) locally known as OPEQUON CREEK BRIDGE EB & WB, carrying WV 09 over OPEQUON CREEK in Berkeley county, the "U. S. Marine Corps, PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr. Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh was born on July 27, 1949, the son of John Louis Brumbaugh, Sr. and Edna May Brumbaugh in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia; and

Whereas, PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr. enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and started a tour in South Vietnam on February 16, 1969, as a Rifleman in A Co, 1st BN, 5th Marines, 1st MARDIV, III MAF; and

Whereas, On February 23, 1969, U. S. Marine Corps PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr. was killed in action in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam by enemy fire; and

Whereas, It is fitting that an enduring memorial be established to commemorate U. S. Marine PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr. and his contributions and ultimate sacrifice to our state and country; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name Bridge Numbers: 02-009/00-017.48  (EB & WB) (02A142, 02A143), (39.42463, -77.93802) locally known as OPEQUON CREEK BRIDGE EB & WB, carrying WV 09 over OPEQUON CREEK in Berkeley county, the "U. S. Marine Corps, PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "U. S. Marine Corps, PFC John Louis "Johnny" Brumbaugh, Jr.  Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
