A BILL to amend and reenact section five, article two, chapter sixty-one of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, increasing the penalty for involuntary manslaughter.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section five, article two, chapter sixty-one of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON.

§61-2-5. Involuntary manslaughter; penalty.

Involuntary manslaughter is a misdemeanor felony, and any person convicted thereof shall be confined in jail state correctional facility not to exceed less than one year nor more than five years, or and fined not to exceed one thousand dollars. or both, in the discretion of the court
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to increase the penalty for involuntary manslaughter.
