A BILL to amend and reenact section one-a, article two, chapter nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to continuing the department of health and human resources.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section one-a, article two, chapter nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN RESOURCES, AND OFFICE OF COMMISSIONER OF HUMAN SERVICES; POWERS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES GENERALLY.
§9-2-1a. Continuation of the department of health and human resources.

The department of health and human resources shall be charged with the administration of this chapter. The department of health and human resources shall continue to exist until the first day of July, two thousand two to permit a review of their functions to be undertaken by the joint committee on government operations as part of the full performance evaluation of the department of health and human resources scheduled to continue during the interim of the Legislature in the year two thousand one. The department of health and human resources shall continue to exist pursuant to the provisions of article ten, chapter four of this code, until the first day of July, two thousand three, unless sooner terminated, continued or reestablished pursuant to that article.
