A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §19-20-26, relating to prohibiting the buying, selling or in any other fashion taking of dogs from the care of their mother until they reach eight weeks of age.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §19-20-26,to read as follows:

ARTICLE 20. DOGS AND CATS.

§19-20-26. Purchase and sale of dogs.

    Notwithstanding any provision of this code to the contrary, no dog may be bought, sold or in any other fashion taken from the care of its mother if the dog is younger than eight weeks old in order for the dog to obtain proper nutrients and care.




    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit a dog younger than eight weeks of age from being bought, sold or in any other fashion taken from the care of its mother.
