A BILL to amend of the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §9-5-11d, relating to requiring the State Medicaid Agency to furnish medicaid recipients monthly itemized statements of services rendered and claimed for reimbursement by providers.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §9-5-11d,
to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS.

§9-5-11d. Itemized statements of medicaid services rendered.

The State Medicaid Agency shall furnish all recipients of services or assistance under the medicaid program a detailed monthly statement itemizing all billing for services or assistance claimed by any provider of services or assistance approved by this chapter. The statement will contain, at a minimum, the following information for each line item: Name of provider; date of service or assistance; medicaid billing code; description of the service or assistance; and the number of units billed. If the statement is not accurate, or if the recipient, guardian, committee or attorney- in-fact for the recipient disagrees with any service or assistance described on the statement, he or she shall notify the State Medicaid Agency immediately. Pursuant to article seven of this chapter, the State Medicaid Agency shall investigate any discrepancy brought to its attention by or on behalf of a medicaid recipient.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the State Medicaid Agency to furnish to Medicaid recipients monthly itemized statements of all assistance or services claimed to have been provided to facilitate verification of the accuracy of claims submitted by providers.
