A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by
adding thereto a new article, designated §47-7-1, relating to
providing vendors may apply a surcharge of up to six percent
of the amount of any retail sales transaction in which a
credit card is used.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new article, designated §47-7-1, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 7. CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE.
§47-7-1. Six percent surcharge authorized in credit card
transactions.
Six percent of the amount charged in any credit card
transaction may be charged and collected as a surcharge by any duly
licensed retail vendor doing business in this State.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide vendors may
apply a surcharge of up to six percent of the amount of any retail
sales transaction in which a credit card is used.
