A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-20-1e, relating to limiting the number of exceptional students in regular education classes.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §18-20-1e, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 20. EDUCATION OF EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN.

§18-20-1e. Integrated classrooms serving students with exceptional needs; limitations.
When placing students with exceptional needs and their special education teacher into a regular education class classroom, the number of exceptional students served in one instructional period shall not exceed eight students at the early childhood education level or ten students at the middle and adolescent education levels.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to limit the number of exceptional students to be included in a regular education class classroom.
