A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §15-2-5a, relating to providing a housing supplement for members of the State Police.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §15-2-5a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 2. WEST VIRGINIA STATE POLICE.

§15-2-5a. Housing allowances.

    Beginning July 1, 2011, through July 1, 2013, each member of the State Police that resides in a county in which the average monthly mortgage payment upon residential property exceeds $700, as determined by the Bureau of Census of the United States Department of Commerce in the taking of the 2000 census of population, shall receive an annual housing allowance supplement determined according to the following schedule:

    Average monthly mortgage     Housing allowance supplement

       $700 to $745                     $300

       $745.01 to $760                  $600

       $760.01 to $790                  $900

       $790.01 to $820                  $1200

       $820.01 to $850                  $1500

       $850.01 to $890                  $1800

       $890.01 to $930                  $2100

       $930.01 and above                     $2400

    The payments shall be made in equal monthly installments and shall be considered a part of the state minimum salaries for members of the State Police.



 

    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide a housing supplement for members of the State Police.


    §15-2-5a section is new; therefore, it has been completely underscored.
